SHOTS by DEB! grew out of a love for picture taking. Growing up, I was always the one in the group who had the camera. It even got to the point that family and friends would ask “where is your ‘necklace’?” if I didn’t have the camera strap around my neck when they saw me. Taking pictures at family birthdays, Christmas, weddings of family and friends, and at school, proved to be great training grounds. This training led to classes and to where I am now – enjoying retirement, and doing something I love to do. The Lord has truly blessed me, and I give Him thanks daily as I know I could not do this without Him. I give many thanks to my photography teacher, Mike, for all of his expertise and advice, and for his doing my portrait session; and to my friends who have helped me with making the transition into this endeavor. Family portraits are important to the history of a family. I know how much I would value a family portrait of my parents and me, if one had been done, no matter what age I may have been.  I have realized that a family portrait is as important for future generations of a family to cherish, if not more so, than it is for the present family to enjoy.  Andy Warhol once wrote, “The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even though the people in it do.”
